News and Event Details
University Theatre at the University of Wisconsin-Superior joined with the Kennedy Center of American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) as an associate production for its fall play "A Moon for the Misbegotten" opening Nov. 4.
Through University Theatre's new relationship with the KCACTF, students gain access to the festival. Two students will also be chosen to go to the Kennedy Center to compete for the Irene Ryan scholarship - a $500 scholarship designed to provide recognition, honor, and financial assistance to outstanding performers wishing to pursue further education.
In addition, an adjudicator - a regional KCACTF representative - will visit one of the university's productions of "A Moon for the Misbegotten" and provide oral and written critiques of the play.
The KCACTF provides feedback to students, faculty and staff and exposure for University Theatre.
"We hope it will help University Theatre to attract prospective students and to give current students an extra opportunity to grow and to compete," said Cathy Fank, director of "A Moon for the Misbegotten" and an associate professor at UW-Superior.
Productions of "A Moon for the Misbegotten" will be performed Nov. 4-6,12-13,19-20 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 14 and 21 at 1 p.m. in the Experimental Theatre.
All performances are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and $2 for UW-Superior students with valid student identification. Groups of 10 or more are $6 per person.
The Experimental Theatre is located in Holden Fine Arts Center at UW-Superior. For maps and directions, visit www.uwsuper.edu/maps.
