The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Assessment Academy offers HLC member institutions a four-year sequence of events and interactions that focus on understanding, confirming, and improving student learning.  The Academy experience is intended to develop institutional culture and increase institutional commitment to assessing and improving student learning.

UW-Superior joined the HLC Assessment Academy in Spring 2010, and started working on the Liberal Education Learning Goals Assessment Project. 

The UW-Superior HLC Assessment Academy Team is also charged with the following responsibilities:

• Developing and proposing an assessment project within the timeframe of our accreditation expectations
• Seeking governance input and buy-in for the project
• Identifying the "equipping" need for faculty and staff to carry out the project
• Implementing and documenting the project

Organization of the Team

In May 2011, the team determined that faculty members would facilitate the team meetings while the Assessment Coordinator would continue to serve as the contact for HLC Assessment Academy and mentors.
