Library Media Specialist Certification
UW-Superior provides all coursework for our approved program leading to the Wisconsin DPI 902 Initial Library Media Specialist license through the Distance Learning Center. This license, together with a Wisconsin DPI teaching license, permits employment as a School Library Media Specialist at the elementary, middle/junior, or high school level in Wisconsin public schools.
The program consists of the Library Science Minor - Education as specified in the University Catalog.

LIBS 303 Information Resources and Services -- 3 credits
LIBS 307 Collection Development [Selecting/Organizing Library Materials] -- 3 credits
LIBS 309 Information Literacy Leadership -- 3 credits
LIBS 310 Young Adult Literature -- 3 credits
LIBS 325 Administration of Library Media Programs -- 3 credits
LIBS 406 Children's Literature -- 3 credits
LIBS 435 Technology for Teaching and Learning -- 3 credits
TED 441 Student Teaching in the Elementary/Middle School -- 3 credits
and
TED 442 Student Teaching in the Middle/Secondary School -- 3 credits
or
TED 445 Supervised Practice for In-Service Teachers -- 6 credits
Arrangements for Student Teaching in the Elementary/Middle School (TED 441), or Student Teaching in the Middle/Secondary School (TED 442) or Supervised Practice for Inservice Teachers (TED 445) are made through the Teacher Education program's Field Experience Office.
TED 441 and 442 or 445 are taken after completion of 21 credits in the Library Science program.
