The graduate program focuses on the natural, social, and financial systems that must be considered in building a sustainable organization. Students will learn how to calculate the costs and benefits of sustainability. This will include the cost or benefit to the environment, the cost or benefit to the community, as well as the actual dollars spent. Students will also take courses in leadership and change management to prepare them to lead change in their organizations.
The online Master of Science in Sustainable Management is a collaborative effort of five University of Wisconsin System campuses: UW-Green Bay, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Parkside, UW-Stout, and UW-Superior. Faculty from these five campuses worked over the past year to develop the curriculum specifically for this program. Fourteen newly developed courses will ensure that our students have access to the most up-to-date content in the sustainability field. Our faculty also gathered curriculum input from industry to make sure our learning objectives are current and valuable to future employers.
"Our new online graduate degree helps advance careers in our changing economy. New, sustainable approaches to management are becoming more important to businesses and organizations. The M.S. in Sustainable Management has been designed to build knowledge and leadership skills meeting these future needs." (Peter D. Nordgren, Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Outreach)
