Spring Commencement: The University of Wisconsin-Superior holds Spring Commencement the Saturday after finals week in May each year at 2 p.m. Our next two spring commencement ceremony are May 18, 2013 and May 17, 2014.
Location: Wessman Arena, 2701 Catlin Avenue, on the UW-Superior campus
The Ceremony: Because of the large number of graduates and guests who attend, Wessman Arena's seating areas and parking fills quickly. Guests should arrive at least 45 minutes before the ceremony begins. Adjacent seating may not be available for guests who arrive later than 1:40 p.m. Commencement generally lasts two hours.
Parking: Parking is available in the Wessman Arena lot, in the Superior Senior High parking lots, and on adjoining city streets. Parking areas fill quickly. Please observe posted parking regulations.
Programs: Programs listing the names of graduates are available at the door.
Roses: Roses are sold in the lobby as a service by the UW-Superior Student Ambassadors.
Photographers: A commercial photographer will photograph all graduates as they 1) approach the stage, 2) receive their diploma, and 3) as they pause in front of a backdrop after leaving the stage. Instructions for purchasing these photos are emailed to each graduate by GradImages.
Family photography: An area on the main floor is set aside for family and friends to take photographs or video of graduates as they are presented their diplomas on stage. After you have taken your photos, please exit the photo area so others may use it. Guests are welcome to photograph graduates in front of the stage after Commencement.
Lodging and restaurants:
Student participation: Students eligible to participate in Commencement receive email from the Registrar's Office in April containing information about participating in the ceremony. For more information regarding students walking in commencement, attire for candidates, etc, follow this link or contact the Registrar's Office.
