POSITION:

Assistant Professor (Special Education), Educational Leadership

POSITION:

The Educational Leadership Department at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, Wisconsin's Public Liberal Arts College, invites applications for the Tenure-Track position of Assistant Professor of Special Education available in August 2013.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate special education courses
  • Instructing graduate students in various special education courses.
  • Delivery of courses in ITV format for distance sites
  • Teaching courses in an online format
  • Advising of undergraduate and graduate students
  • Supervising graduate research
  • Engaging with local educational institutions and programs
  • Engaging in scholarly activity
  • Engaging in departmental, university and community service

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Earned Doctorate in Education or related field (degree must be completed by August 2013)
  • Focus of study in the instruction of special education
  • Background and/or experience working with diverse population
  • Three years K-12 teaching experience with special education students
  • Evidence of research activities including scholarly publications

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Experience with online teaching
  • Post-secondary level teaching experience
  • Experience with program development
  • Willingness to learn instructional technologies
  • Active participation and leadership in state and national professional organizations
  • Knowledge of Wisconsin Teacher and administrative standards

The successful candidate will be dynamic, energetic, creative and engaging. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the public liberal arts mission and to quality teaching and learning methods. Willingness and interest in utilizing technology in the classroom strongly preferred. The successful candidate must be committed to the highest ethical standards and demonstrate effective leadership and teamwork skills. Candidates that incorporate issues of inclusive excellence and diversity within their curriculum are especially encouraged to apply.

SALARY:

UW-Superior offers a competitive salary and benefits package including health insurance coverage for domestic partners and their eligible dependents.
