Tom comes to UW-Superior after spending over 27 years in the local television industry covering news, weather and sports.  Hansen's most recent position being the sports director at the Northland's NewsCenter. 

"We are thrilled to welcome Tom to the team," said Lynne Williams, Director of Marketing and Communications.  "His media experience combined with his passion for UW-Superior is sure to be a successful foundation for him to help tell our story."

Hansen is a Superior resident and alumnus of UW-Superior.  He holds a bachelor of arts in communications from Winona State University and a master of arts in communications from UW-Superior.  Tom is a familiar face to campus through his involvement in Yellowjacket athletics.  He was inducted to the Yellowjacket Hall of Fame in 2006 as the recipient of the Carl Vergamini award for his contributions to Yellowjacket athletics.

As university relations specialist, Hansen will manage daily operations of campus news and public relations. 

"I'm looking forward to joining the outstanding team at UW-Superior", said Hansen.  "The school has been a big part of my life ever since I enrolled there in 1987.  From meeting my wife in class, to our wedding reception at Wessman Arena, my induction to the Athletic Hall of Fame and the friends I have made there over the years, it's like coming home."

Hansen will join the staff part-time on March 11 and full-time on March 25, 2013.
