The Office of Multicultural Affairs is pleased to announce that 10 UW-Superior students have been accepted to present at the upcoming UW-System's American Multicultural Student Leadership Conference (AMSLC) at UW-River Falls during March 8 and 9th.
The following students will be presenting research, creative writing, and visual/performance arts projects in the format of oral presentations or poster sessions:
• T.K. Vang - Visual Arts Category with "Wall of Respect" painting depicting historic African American history.
• Taehyun Kim - Research Category with "Korean Percussion."
• Kang Her - Research Category with "The Perfect Hmong Daughter-in-Law."
• Ahnaf Ahmed Shadman - Creative Writing Category with a poem - Performance Presentation.
• Kali Kelliher, Yiwen Li, Ilayda Uysal, and Shihao Zhang - Visual Arts Category with "Americanization Abroad: A Distorted Mirror of Globalization (video project including interviews from UW-Superior and UMD students).
• Gavken (Monica) Siu - Visual Arts and Research Categories - Visual Arts: "Painting From the Heart" and Research: "Crafting a Multi-Self: Breaking Stereotypes.
• Racquel Kaizer - Research Category - Poster Presentation: "Worlds Apart."
AMSLC Mission: The annual American Multicultural Student Leadership Conference (AMSLC) provides an opportunity for students of color and economically-disadvantaged students to come together and engage in lively discussions, hear inspiring speakers, develop networks, and celebrate their achievements in order to foster leadership and excellence.
At AMSLC, students will:
• Present their work in undergraduate research, scholarship and creative expression.
• Gain knowledge and skills to prepare for future opportunities.
• Engage with others within and across cultures.
