This message is to inform you that Technology Services will be removing mobile device exemptions from the wireless access firewall.  This removal is an annual 'house cleaning' of our wireless firewall system.  In order for our wireless system to continue to operate at optimum speed and reliability, we need to remove all devices from the system once per year.

Devices will be removed starting on 8/20/10. The removal should be complete by 8/25/10.

This will only affect you if you have requested an exemption in the past year for your mobile or wireless device to use the campus wireless Internet access.  Typical requests are for iPhones/iPods and other Smart Phones, laptops with Linux operating systems, and mobile gaming devices (PSP, Nintendo DS etc..).

Note - Students that have contacted ResNet with their requests will not be affected by this purging.

This *should not* affect email on your mobile device.   If your mobile device is currently receiving email off campus, it will continue to work both on and off campus.

If you would like your mobile device to be allowed access to the campus wireless system, please bring your device to the helpdesk.  We will need to collect certain data from your device.
