The estimated Annual Cost of Attendance (COA) is an estimated budget for the academic year, which includes budgeted amounts for other non-billed education expenses (personal expenses and transportation) as well as billed expenses (tuition, room, and meals, if applicable). This allows you to utilize financial aid to help cover your expenses beyond your semester bill. The COA is only used when packaging financial aid offers, and does not necessarily reflect actual charges.

Proposed Segregated Fees for FY 2024-25

Segregated fees are additional fees to the tuition that students pay to support university services. Every year, the proposed segregated fees for the following year are published for students and staff to review. The proposed rates for 2024-2025 can be found here.

Auditing Classes – Credit Fee Policy

  • Only on-campus courses can be audited. Auditing is not an option for our online classes.
  • Wisconsin residents age 60 or older (as of the first day of classes) will not pay tuition. All other senior citizens will pay a percentage of the per-credit tuition based on residency.
  • Disabled Wisconsin residents who are receiving disability benefits under either Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program or federal Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program will not pay tuition.
  • Students taking courses for credit who are also auditing a course will pay full fees, just as if all courses were for credit. For example, a student who is taking two three-credit courses for credit and auditing another three-credit course will pay the fees for nine credits, including segregated fees.
  • Audit-only students have the option of paying for segregated fees if access to segregated fee-funded services are desired. If segregated fees are not paid, access for audit-only students is limited to the library and non-segregated fee-funded activities of the student center.
  • Audit-only students are responsible for any special course fees.
  • Audit-only students will pay a percentage of the per-credit fee based on residency:
    • Wisconsin residents under age 60 pay 30% of incidental fees (rounded).
    • Nonresidents pay 50% of incidental fees and nonresident tuition (rounded).
    • Minnesota residents pay 30% of incidental fees and reciprocity fee (rounded). Minnesota residents must apply for and receive reciprocity from the State of Minnesota. If they do not receive reciprocity, they will be considered the same as nonresidents and will pay according to that schedule.

Tuition Refund/Repayment Schedule

Withdrawal from Classes

A withdrawal fee of $50 will be charged to all students who withdraw, or are de-registered, after the semester begins and during the 100% refund period. Official withdrawal forms are available at the Office of the Registrar, Old Main 139. Students are considered enrolled unless an official withdrawal card is on file. Courses less than two weeks will refund 100% on the first day of class only. There will be no refunds after the first day of class.

Attention Financial Aid Recipients: Important Repayment Information

Students who withdraw or drop often are required to repay a portion of their financial aid. Please check with the Financial Aid Office for advisement if you are withdrawing.
