SOAR: Summer Orientation Advisement and Registration

What to expect from SOAR:

SOAR is an exciting step in your Yellowjacket journey! Our SOAR events will include both sessions for students and for family and supporters. You can expect:

  • Register for fall classes with your advisor
  • Connect with incoming classmates
  • Learn about an array of campus resources
  • Get your UWS Student ID
  • Free lunch provided

Registration:

The 2025 SOAR events run from 8:30am-2pm and will be capped at 35 students and their guests.  Students only need to attend one orientation event.

If you live outside of Wisconsin or Minnesota, please ask our admissions office about a virtual option.

Virtual Option: For students who live outside of Wisconsin or Minnesota and would prefer a virtual option, please contact your admissions counselor.

What to consider before selecting your SOAR date:

  • Attendance for the full program is required.
  • Make sure that you bring along parents or supporters. Family members and supporters are encouraged to attend! We know they are a big part of this process, and we want them to feel at ease. We will have certain content geared towards family members in attendance.
  • Are placement exams required? Yes. Placement tests are required for all students. Exams should be completed at least two weeks prior to your SOAR date.
  • Dual enrollment, PSEO, Early College Credit, or other college level credits make a big difference for advisors. Make sure that you send an official transcript from your college before SOAR (your high school transcript doesn’t count for college credit). If you still have classes in progress, email an unofficial copy of your college transcript to your admissions counselor in advance.
