The University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being, along with sponsorship by the Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership at UW-Madison, will host award-winning investigative journalist Johann Hari on Thursday, May 4, at 6 p.m. in the Yellowjacket Union Great Room. This event is available in person or virtually.

The presentation, “Lost Connections: Uncovering the Real Causes of Depression – and the Unexpected Solutions,” will explore why depression and anxiety have increased throughout the Western world in the past 40 years.

Free and open to the community, Hari will share the incredible journey he took across the world to interview leading experts about what causes depression and anxiety, and what solves them. Hari learned that there is scientific evidence for nine different causes of depression and anxiety – and that this knowledge leads to a very different set of solutions than were previously used: ones that offer real hope.
