The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department will present guitarist and senior lecturer Jacob Jonker on Tuesday, November 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Webb Recital Hall as part of its University Recital Series.
A solo classical guitar recital, the evening will include Spanish and South American guitar music from the late 19th and 20th Centuries. The music of Francisco Tárrega, Federico Moreno Torroba, AgustÃn Barrios and Jose Luis Merlin will be featured.
Jonker holds a master’s degree in classical guitar performance from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and a bachelor’s from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
A former Schubert Club and Thursday Musical Prize winner, Jonker has performed as a featured local artist for the Minnesota Guitar Society. He has also performed with the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra, Duluth Playhouse, Twin Ports Choral Project, Lyric Opera of the North, Lake Superior Youth Chorus and many other ensembles ranging from youth to professional.
