DUTIES:
The Department of Natural Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Superior invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology position beginning in August 2025. The Department is seeking individuals who will provide excellent undergraduate instruction, incorporate current techniques in teaching and research, and work collaboratively to strengthen the Department’s biology program. For this position we are seeking a broadly trained biologist that will teach an introductory-level course in the core Principles of Biology sequence and upper division electives in the candidate’s expertise.
The successful candidate will be dynamic, energetic, creative, and engaging. They will demonstrate commitment to the public liberal arts mission and to quality teaching and learning methods. Willingness and interest in utilizing technology in the classroom strongly preferred. The successful candidate must be committed to the highest ethical standards and demonstrate effective leadership and teamwork skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Earned doctorate in biology or a related discipline by August 31, 2025.
- Two semesters of experience in college-level teaching. Graduate teaching assistantships will be considered.
- A research background in biology or related life science.        Â
- Experience or commitment to developing a research program that involves undergraduate biology majors.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- One semester or more of experience teaching college-level introductory biology.
- Expertise in either botany or microbiology. (Candidates from any subfield of biology are encouraged to apply).
- Experience and professional development in best practices in teaching and learning, including experiential and active learning styles.
- Experience in developing and delivering courses in online and alternative delivery formats.
