On Saturday, December 16, the University of Wisconsin-Superior held a special event for its Fall 2023 graduates.

Grad Walk 2023, which took place in the Yellowjacket Union Great Room, allows fall graduates who are unable to attend the spring ceremony an experience like that of a traditional commencement. Students are able to wear their regalia, walk across the stage, have their name read, receive their diploma tube from Chancellor Renée Wachter and pose for pictures. Master’s students also had the opportunity to be hooded.

“We had 57 students participate,” said Jen Bird, assistant dean of students at UW-Superior. “This is about a 78-percent increase in participants from last year.”

During the Grad Walk, 38 undergraduate and 19 graduate students were able to share the occasion with family and friends. UW-Superior is expecting more than 230 students to graduate this fall.

UW-Superior will hold its spring commencement on Saturday, May 18, at 2 p.m. at Siinto S. Wessman Arena. This event is open to Fall 2023, Spring and Summer 2024 UW-Superior graduates.
