The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department will present Vincent Osborn & Friends, on Tuesday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Webb Recital Hall as part of its University Recital Series.

“My title of the evening is ‘40 Years on 4 Strings,’” said Osborn. “It is kind of a celebration of making music, playing the double bass for the past 40 years and the journey I’ve been on. I’m being joined by some wonderful friends.”

The concert will feature Osborn, double bass; Ted Schoen, clarinet; Ed Willett, cello; Erin Aldridge, violin; Hector Landa, piano; and Brett Jones on bodhrán.

“Ted and I, accompanied by Hector, will be performing ‘Duetto for Clarinet and Double Bass,’ by Giovanni Bottesini – the Paganini of the Double Bass,” said Osborn. “This is romantic classical music from the 19th century. A true showcase piece for the double bass. Ed is composing a duet for cello and bass, which we will do the world premiere. Ed is one of the most talented musicians I have ever worked with – he’s one of the music directors at Big Top Chautauqua in Bayfield and, along with his wife and musical partner Cheryl Leah, performs around the world with their ensemble ‘Chance.’ Erin will be joining Ed and myself on the second half for a fun-filled time of Irish/Appalachia bluegrass music.”

Tickets are $15. Webb Recital Hall is in Holden Fine and Applied Arts, 1805 Catlin Ave.
