The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department will host more than 80 of the best high school string musicians from the Twin Ports and beyond for its Honors Orchestra Festival on Tuesday, December 3.
“This is our annual Honors Orchestra Festival that showcases the talented high school string students from around the Twin Ports area and beyond,” said Erin Aldridge, Honors Orchestra Festival coordinator and professor of orchestra and violin at UW-Superior.
For the student participants, the day begins at 9 a.m. with rehearsals.
The event culminates with a public performance featuring both the high school Honor Orchestra and University Orchestra at 5 p.m. in Thorpe Langley Auditorium. Students will be performing works focusing on world music featuring selections from China, Denmark, Iceland, Africa, Columbia and the United States.
Tickets are $5 for adults and free for students. Thorpe Langley Auditorium is in Old Main at 1710 Weeks Ave. in Superior.
