The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department will host its Percussion Ensemble Concert on Thursday, December 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Thorpe Langley Auditorium.
The concert will feature the UW-Superior percussion ensemble along with percussion alumni.
“The stage will be full of drums, marimbas and a plethora of percussion instruments,” said Brett Jones, DMA, professor of percussion at UW-Superior. “We will perform pieces featuring driving rhythms and groove-based drumming. In one piece, we will sound, for the first time on our campus, a new set of large Korean drums. The vibrations of which you can feel throughout your body.”
The concert will also feature small ensemble pieces in the ragtime and the jazz fusion idiom, as well as classical and minimalistic works capping an evening filled with music for every mood.
Tickets are $5 for adults and free for students. Thorpe Langley Auditorium is in Old Main at 1710 Weeks Ave. in Superior.
