The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department will present its Symphonic Band and Superior High School Band in concert Thursday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Thorpe Langley Auditorium.

The Superior High School Concert Band will perform works they recently presented at the Large Group Festival followed by the UW-Superior Symphonic Band. The concert will conclude as both bands share the stage performing “Brazil” by Robert W. Smith.

“The audience will enjoy an evening of inspiring and passionate music by the hard-working high school and college students,” said Steven Siegel, director of bands and trumpet at UW-Superior. “We hope this performance helps create a bond between the band members of UWS and SHS as well as the audience members.”

The ensembles will perform works from various time periods, genres, historical events and styles. In addition, Brett Jones, professor of percussion and chair of the Music Department at UW-Superior, will be a featured soloist on the premiere of Ian Deterling’s “Earendel.”

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and free for students. Thorpe Langley Auditorium is in Old Main at 1710 Weeks Ave. in Superior.
