Record attendance at UW-Superior’s TRIO Day Celebration

The University of Wisconsin-Superior celebrated its TRIO Day on Thursday, February 20, marking a record-breaking attendance at this year’s event. The turnout exceeded expectations with more than 60 in attendance.

“It was one of the largest turnouts we’ve had in the years since I’ve been here at UWS,” said Aaron Wainman, M.Ed., interim program director of TRIO McNair Scholars at UW-Superior. “We were thrilled to see TRIO professionals and students from outside UWS joining us, including a group from Lake Superior College, which brought along students to participate in the celebration.”

TRIO Day is an annual event that highlights the importance and impact of TRIO programs on the lives of students. This year’s celebration featured a powerful video that set the stage for guest speakers, who discussed the vital role TRIO programs have played in shaping the academic and personal journeys of students over the past 25 and 45 years.

The event underscored the growing importance of continued support for these programs, which have helped so many students overcome barriers to success.

“Our campus and community support for these programs is deeply appreciated,” said Wainman.

The enthusiasm and attendance reflect the strong community connection to the TRIO programs at UW-Superior, demonstrating their lasting impact and the importance of such initiatives for the future of students and the community.
