The University of Wisconsin-Superior was recently designated as a “Research Colleges and Universities” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the American Council on Education (ACE).
“I am thrilled to share that UW-Superior has earned this prestigious designation,” said UW-Superior Chancellor Renée Wachter. “This recognition affirms what we’ve long known about UWS. From our Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program and four dynamic research centers, to our new Sadie Ann Education and Research Vessel, our small but mighty campus is a hub of innovation. Here, students, faculty and staff collaborate to explore, problem-solve and apply their findings in ways that benefit the community and region.”
The “Research Colleges and Universities” designation joins Carnegie and ACE’s established “Research 1 (R1) and Research 2 (R2)” classifications.
“This milestone is a direct reflection of UW-Superior’s passion, dedication and commitment to research and academic excellence,” said Wachter.
UW-Superior joins fellow UW institutions – UW-Green Bay, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point – along with 213 institutions nationwide in achieving this recognition.
“Research is a critical component across the Universities of Wisconsin and I’m proud that UW-Superior has been designated by the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation as among the top Research Colleges and Universities,” said Universities of Wisconsin President Jay Rothman.
