UW-Superior hosts 2024 WiSys SPARK Symposium

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers

The University of Wisconsin-Superior recently hosted the WiSys SPARK Symposium, which brought the best and brightest innovators from across the state together.

The symposium is held annually at a different location around the state to celebrate research and innovation throughout the state. This was the 17th year of the WiSys SPARK Symposium. Annually, the event attracts over 200 attendees, including UW faculty and students, and leaders from industry and the community. Among the attendees was Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers.

“We are thrilled to welcome the WiSys SPARK Symposium back to campus,” said UW-Superior Chancellor Renée Wachter. “This event serves as an excellent opportunity to feature not only research and innovation from the state but also our students’ outstanding research projects and presentation skills.  It’s also a wonderful time to connect with the partners and others around the region and share so many of the great things happening at UW-Superior.”

Highlights of the WiSys SPARK Symposium included the WiSys Quick Pitch State Final, an Innovation Awards celebration and a showcase of student research and innovation. This year, a special emphasis was placed on sustainable practices in food and agriculture – supported by the NSF Engine development award: Advancing Sustainable Agriculture in Wisconsin.

“We are looking forward to bringing the WiSys SPARK Symposium back to UW-Superior,” said Arjun Sanga, WiSys president. “This event showcases the innovation happening across our state, and it is exciting to shine a spotlight on the growing innovation and entrepreneurial excellence at the Universities of Wisconsin.”
