Jon Murphy, Assistant Professor of Economics at Nicholls State University, will be giving a talk on “expert failure.” Experts are all around us, and we use expert opinion for all sorts of things: medical advice, legal advice, entertainment advice, dating advice, and much more. Sometimes, experts give us good advice. Sometimes, they don’t. Jon studies the conditions that cause experts to give us poor advice. Can seemingly insignificant choices made by experts lead to significant consequences? These are the questions Jon explores using the economic way of thinking.
