Location: Yellowjacket Union Room 203
Event Category: Continuing Education Event

While conflict is a normal and healthy fact of life, ‘conflict-disconnection’ creates a kind of stress that can cause damage to relationships and drain individuals, work teams, companies and whole communities of precious creative energy. This workshop is designed to recognize that fact and will provide participants with an opportunity to learn and practice and combine three key skill-sets of this internationally known Collaborative Communication model. While many focus on how to set objectives and reach them, these collaborative communication (interpersonal) skills matter greatly to build and ensure the ‘quality of connection’ needed to successfully achieve team outcomes. Research shows that what distinguishes effective teams from dysfunctional ones is how people interact. And with more work being done in teams, it pays to pay attention to the skills that make effective collaboration possible. In this course, you will learn how enhancing your skills in Self-Empathy, Listening/responding with Empathy and Self-Expression(speaking with compassionate honesty)…each impact and relate to key HR proficiencies of Networking, Team Building, Conflict Resolution and Negotiation. The goal is to be able to lead in relationships by self-aware, courageous, compassionate and authentic example.
