DESCRIPTION:Welcome to our weekly Pruitt Center Yoga class!  \nNOTE: the in-person portion of this class is on the 2nd floor of the JDH Library at UW-Superior.  \nWake up with the Pruitt Center for Mindfulness & Well-Being as we present Yoga every Wednesday morning from 8 to 8:50 a.m.! \nOr\, if you prefer practicing in the privacy of your own home\, this class is also offered virtually via Zoom and is open to staff\, faculty\, students\, and the greater community. Everyone is welcome! \nPlease note: There are no Wednesdays that fall on holidays during this academic year\, so unless the Director and Instructor decide 2-3 weeks in advance not to hold class on holiday weeks (Thanksgiving\, Christmas\, New Year’s Spring Break)\, there will be yoga every week.  \nIf there is inclement weather (whether or not school is closed on Wednesday morning)\, we will do our best to offer a virtual only class\, if possible. They will share what this concept and practice means to them\, how they have gained it in their lives\, who supports them\, and the role that UW-Superior has played in facing their challenges and goals. Moderated by Dr. Jayson Iwen of the Department of Writing\, Languages\, and Literacy\, our panel features:  Greta Barrett: A transfer student from Cloquet\, Greta is double-majoring in Business Administration in the Marketing and Management Concentrations. Greta has a 4.0 GPA and was honored in Spring 2026 with the VFW Scholarship at the Student Excellence Awards.  \n\n\nHannah Copenhaver: A senior from Duluth\, MN\, Hannah is an English major and Writing minor. This past spring\, Hannah presented her research at the UW System Women’s and Gender Studies Consortium (WGSC) Conference in Madison. She works at Jim Dan Hill Library.  \n\n\nGift Uchegbe: A junior from Nigeria\, Gift is an active student leader on campus and participates in SGA\, World Student Association\, and other clubs\, including the Curling Club\, which she revived at UW-Superior when she was a freshman. Gift is double-majoring in biology and economics\, with plans to attend medical school. Please note the panel is in-person only\, though other sessions below are offered in a hybrid modality.

DESCRIPTION:Session: Dismantling Academic Stigmas and Decoding Accommodation Letters   \n\n\nFacilitators: Trish Allen\, Tutoring Coordinator\, and Amy Ledin\, Disability Services Advisor  \n\n\nDescription: Many students arrive on campus requiring greater academic support to bridge skill gaps in key areas like critical thinking and core subjects.  Additionally\, UWS has seen a steady increase in accommodation requests\, largely driven by a growing awareness of invisible disabilities\, mental health conditions\, and neurodivergent needs.  \n\n\nThis presentation will give an overview of academic supports and tutoring offered in the Educational Success Center and provide practical strategies for implementing reasonable accommodations effectively.  Our goal is to serve as a collaborative partner to faculty\, helping you navigate accommodation letters and address classroom challenges without altering essential course requirements.  \n\n\nThe final portion of the session will be reserved for interactive discussion and Q&A to address your specific questions and campus experiences.

SUMMARY:LiveWell Nature Exploration: Intro to Mushroom Foraging
DESCRIPTION:Location: Millennium Park\, 3100 N 28th St\, Superior\, WI  \nJoin Ariel Bonkoski\, mushroom identification expert\, for a guided hike to explore the wondrous woods in search of mushrooms! \nWe will start with going over some basic mushroom information\, talk about some mushrooms we might see and some hike guidelines. We will then embark through the woods to find and identify mushrooms! We will wrap up our adventure with some information on utilizing the mushrooms we have found. This event is free and everyone will receive a free copy of Ariel’s recently published book. \nRecommended items to bring: comfortable weather appropriate hiking clothes/shoes (the trail is known to get a little muddy) and beverages.  \nOptional items to bring: notepad/pen to take notes about the mushrooms we are finding\, a camera\, a basket/paper bag/mesh bag to carry mushrooms in\, etc. \nAll ages are welcome\, but children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
