Participants will explore the legacy of Major Richard Bong and the recent successful mission to Papua New Guinea to locate his famed P-38 “Marge\,” examine the critical role of shipbuilding and the contributions of both men and women on the Twin Ports home front\, and hear compelling stories of local figures such as Tuskegee Airman Joe Gomer and Congressman John Blatnik’s lesser-known service with the OSS. DESCRIPTION:Bridging the Divide – Student-to-Student Civil Discourse Conversation  \nJackets Vote\, a program of the Link Center\, is pleased to support this year’s Bridging the Divide Campus Leader at UW-Superior\, Oreoluwa Sofolahan.  \nOre and Jackets Vote are inviting UWS students to attend student-led civil discourse events called “Bridging the Divide.” \nBridging the Divide\, a new program of the Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership\, seeks to reduce partisan division by fostering civil discourse among students and promoting civic virtue. The program brings students with different ideological and partisan political perspectives together for small-group conversations about current political issues and beliefs. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to our weekly Pruitt Center Yoga class!  \nTime: 8 – 8:50 a.m. \nLocation: in-person on the 2nd floor of the JDH Library at UW-Superior or online via Zoom  \nStart your day with a mind-body practice for all levels that helps calm the mind\, reduce stress\, sharpen focus and build strength\, balance and flexibility. \nOr\, if you prefer practicing at home\, you can join this class virtually via Zoom. \nFree and open to students\, faculty\, staff and community members. Registration is not required. Just drop in! \nPlease note: There are no Wednesdays that fall on holidays during this academic year\, so unless the Director and Instructor decide 2-3 weeks in advance not to hold class on holiday weeks (Thanksgiving\, Christmas\, New Year’s Spring Break)\, there will be yoga every week.  \nIf there is inclement weather (whether or not school is closed on Wednesday morning)\, we will do our best to offer a virtual only class\, if possible. Please be safe in making your decision on joining us in person\, knowing that attending via zoom is an option.

DESCRIPTION:This event will be held at the Yellowjacket Union Atrium (1st floor) Information Tables \nAll campus members are invited to stop by at any time from 11:30am until 1pm to learn more about National Coming Out Day and LGBTQ2+ history! National Coming Out Day is an awareness day observed annually on October 11th\, and one of the recognition months of October is LGBTQ2+ History Month. During this tabling event we will be talking about the significance and reasons why people still feel they have to “come out”\, and we will have a traveling banner exhibit available as well regarding some LGBTQ2+ history in the Midwest.
