DESCRIPTION:Storytelling weaves a tapestry of shared history that binds families and grounds individuals\, fostering resilience\, belonging\, and purpose. It equips people to face life’s challenges with a sense of rootedness and support\, while preserving cultural and moral legacies for future generations. In this two-part session we will explore the transformative power of narrative storytelling within the context of family. This two-part session delves into how family stories shape individual and collective identity\, fostering deeper bonds and resilience. \nIn Part I of this session we will discuss family and intergenerational storytelling from a theoretical perspective\, delving into how family stories shape individual and collective identity\, fostering deeper bonds\, resilience\, and purpose within families and communities that span generations. We will discuss the various types of family stories\, as well as the research evidence for how and why storytelling is beneficial to our health and well-being on both an individual and cultural level.
