About
Katelyn received her B.A. in international peace studies and mass communication from UW-Superior and graduated summa cum laude in May 2012. During undergrad, she experienced the direct correlation between the foundations of active citizenship and her liberal arts education. Katelyn discovered a passion for developing strategies to address and met community needs through mutually-beneficial partnerships.
She started her professional career at UW-Superior in July 2012, and she served for two years as an AmeriCorps*VISTA. Since then, Katelyn has progressively taken on increasing responsibility and leadership within The Link Center and the Academic Service-Learning (AS-L) Program. Within her current role as AS-L Coordinator, Katelyn provides leadership, support, and resources to faculty/instructors on how to strategically and sustainably integrate AS-L into their courses. She develops collaborations with nonprofits, schools, service clubs, businesses and other groups to formulate solutions to existing community needs through AS-L partnerships. Katelyn listens, innovates, and connects UW-Superior students with real-world experiences to allow students to put their learning into practice and start preparing for a career/grad school. These mutually-beneficial AS-L partnerships positively impact students, faculty/instructors, and community partners. Katelyn has strengths in community outreach, public speaking, event planning, relationship building, volunteer management and student leadership.
