About

Shannon is a Teaching Associate Professor specializing in K-12 Art Education and Printmaking. She earned her BFA Pre-Graduate Studio Art degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with an emphasis in photography and drawing followed by a Master of Arts degree in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Prior to becoming a full-time instructor in the Visual Arts Department, Shannon was the Education Director at the Duluth Art Institute from 2004-2014, where she coordinated art classes for youth and adults, collaborated with artists and instructors, and led outreach art activities in schools and community centers across the Northland. Outside of teaching, Shannon is also a practicing artist, focusing on woodcut and silkscreen printmaking processes. She has exhibited nationally and is part of the permanent collection of the Tweed Museum of Art at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. In 2023, Shannon was recognized by the Wisconsin Art Education Association’s board, with the President’s Award, for her contribution to art education locally and across the state.
