About

Over the course of her professional life, Ilsa has had the privilege of choosing employment that is community-centered, vision-driven and allows her to be of service to others. She has expertise in communication, community building, advocacy and public policy, working to support a conduit for community growth and success across northern Wisconsin. Ilsa works collaboratively to invest in the education of students and address employers’ needs; creating a sustainable pathway to meet the needs of our communities. Ilsa believes that students and communities thrive when there is a direct link between civic engagement that is focused on a sense of responsibility to others and a radically hospitable environment to learn and live.

Most recently, Ilsa taught college courses in communication and political science with strong experiential and service-learning components. She is involved with the League of Women Voters and is a trained search advocate. Previously, Ilsa was involved with the Duluth Community School Collaborative and YWCA Board of Directors.

Born and raised on a farm in Scandinavia Wisconsin, Ilsa loves planting vegetables, being barefoot and baking (and eating) pie. Family and community are important to her; she spends some of her free time being a Girl Scout troop leader, watching their kids sing with Lake Superior Youth Choir and play Little League. Ilsa loves to spend time swimming, traveling, crafting and lecturing to her family on the importance of good public policy.
