Radical Moderation: A New Map for a Divided World

Radical Moderation: A New Map for a Divided World
UW-Superior’s new Heterodox Campus Community is inviting all students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community to campus to join for a presentation by Dr. Lauren Hall, Professor of Political Science and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), on Wednesday, April 22, at 5:30 PM in the Yellowjacket Union Great Rooms.
Dr. Hall will be talking with us about what she refers to as “radical moderation”: in her own words, “a moderation that is truly radical, exploding one-dimensional thinking and embracing the complexity, humility, trade-offs, toleration, and optimism the real world requires.” This approach helps us to avoid extremes, escape one-dimensional thinking, and depolarize. Dr. Hall will provide concrete action steps to help us move forward with this mindset; she will also stay for a Q & A session following her talk.
Parking will be free and there will be horsd’oeuvres and beverages.
