The Federal Perkins Loan program, which provided low-interest loans to college students with an exceptional financial need, is no longer available, the program expired September 30, 2017.
Interest
The Perkins Loan is interest-free as long as the student maintains at least half time enrollment. Repayment of principal plus 5% interest begins 9 months after the student is no longer enrolled at least half time (i.e., graduation, leave the university or drop below half time).
Billing Agency
University of Wisconsin – Superior’s billing agent for your Federal Perkins Student Loans will be handled by Heartland Campus Solutions/ECSI. ECSI is a billing service provider for the college, not a collection agency. We believe that this is a benefit to both borrowers and UW-Superior. For more information please review the ESCI webpage.
