
Program Overview
The Education Law, Ethics, and Effective Communication in Schools certificate is a 12-credit microcredential designed for current and aspiring school professionals. This program provides an overview of school law, special education law, conflict resolution and mediation, and support for exceptional learners. The curriculum is structured around four graduate-level courses and integrates all eight NACE career readiness competencies.
Courses included (3 credits each):
- EDAD 750 – School Law
- EDAD 832 – Special Education Law
- EDAD 741 – Conflict Resolution and Mediation
- SPED 750 – Exceptional Learner
Upon completion, students will be able to:
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of school law and special education requirements.
- Develop professional skills in conflict resolution, ethical decision-making, and stakeholder communication.
- Earn a certificate and digital badge.

Note: Students are encouraged to consult with their advisor regarding the transferability of courses into a subsequent degree, per university policy.
Earning Criteria
To earn this certificate, enrollees must:
- Complete all four courses listed above with a grade of B or better in each course.
