About the Benefactor: Mr. George Gott
Mr. Gott had a passion for poetry and was always grateful for the chance to share his work with the campus community, hoping to be an inspiration to other young writers. He was a professor emeritus at UW-Superior and wrote four to five poems a day. He wrote over 12,000 poems throughout his career and published over 800 of them worldwide in renowned literary magazines, journals and other publications. Mr. Gott spent over 36 years teaching at UW-Superior and credited the campus and the City of Superior for the growth of his career. His wife, Dorothy Gott, was also a UW-Superior alumni and UW-Superior professor. Dorothy passed away in 2013, prompting George to establish scholarships in memory, and George passed away in 2019.
