Given to three students, respectively, an undergraduate senior majoring in Psychology, a Distance Learning Program student with psychology as one component of an Individually Designed major, and an undergraduate student majoring in English with an interest in poetry.
About the Benefactors: Dr. and Mrs. Ross Stagner Family and Friends
In memory of Professor emeritus Dr. Ross Stagner and Margaret Wieland Stagner, poet, relatives established a memorial scholarship fund at UW-Superior. Professor Stagner’s outstanding and distinguished professional career in psychology began while he was a graduate student and graduate assistant at the University of Wisconsin. During this period he wrote a number of articles and performed exceptional research. He then taught in Illinois, Ohio, Texas, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Dr. Ross Stagner published numerous books, research, and theoretical articles and earned many awards and recognitions for his work. Margaret Wieland Stagner attended at the University of Wisconsin, wrote poetry, and played violin and piano. Mrs. Stagner was a homemaker and typed, proofread, and critiqued Dr. Stagner’s work.

Current students: Near the beginning of each calendar year, you will receive notification to your UW-Superior email account when it is time to apply for Foundation scholarships and how to do so. Applications usually open at the beginning of February and close at the beginning of March. Scholarships are awarded for the following academic year, beginning with the fall semester.
