For a student with a 3.85 or higher GPA and who has completed all the freshman core courses in music (theory and ear training).
About the Benefactor: Dr. Beth Gilbert’s Colleagues and Friends
Multiple scholarships were created by colleagues and friends to honor Dr. Gilbert for her 30th anniversary at UW-Superior in 2013. Dr. Gilbert was a UW-Superior music faculty member and department chair.
Dr. Gilbert is a native of northwest Iowa. After high school graduation, she attended the University of Northern Iowa to pursue her passion for teaching, earning degrees in piano performance and choral music education. She then continued her studies at the University of Michigan and the University of Arizona. Her piano students have won numerous awards and competitions including MTNA competitions (state-level) in high school and collegiate divisions, WMTA Badger Keyboard, Lake Superior Ragtime Society, DSSO Young Artist award, and UW-Superior Concerto competitions.
She has received the UW-Superior Chancellor’s Award for Exemplary Advising, the Chancellor’s Award for Model Teaching, an Alumni Award for “”Excellence in Performance and Teaching”” from the University of Arizona, and was chosen by the UW-Superior Alumni Association to receive an Honorary Alumnus Award in 1997. Dr. Gilbert was a member of the staff of the world-famous Interlochen Arts Camp in Interlochen, Michigan for 35 summers.

Current students: Near the beginning of each calendar year, you will receive notification to your UW-Superior email account when it is time to apply for Foundation scholarships and how to do so. Applications usually open at the beginning of February and close at the beginning of March. Scholarships are awarded for the following academic year, beginning with the fall semester. Some scholarships, usually related to study abroad/away, always accept applications. See the Foundation scholarship process information page for details on how to apply.
