For a student who is in good academic standing and demonstrates financial need. First preference to a student majoring in Chemistry. Second preference to a student majoring in any other Natural Sciences major. If no students with a Natural Science major have financial need, make the award to a student majoring in Chemistry and in good academic standing.

About the donor: Lucy and Woody Christianson
Lucy Christianson was born and raised in Superior, WI. As a young girl, she focused on learning and even completed two grades in one year. Lucy graduated from UW-Superior in 1942 with degrees in English, History, and French. She spent her professional career as a teacher, credit manager, and librarian for UW-Superior. Woody Christianson was Chief Chemist at Murphy Oil in Superior, WI. Lucy and Woody married on October 31, 1942.
Woody passed away in 1988 and Lucy passed away at the age of 100 in 2021. Lucy will be remembered for many things, and her sincere love for learning will live on.

Current students: Near the beginning of each calendar year, you will receive notification to your UW-Superior email account when it is time to apply for Foundation scholarships and how to do so. Applications usually open at the beginning of February and close at the beginning of March. Scholarships are awarded for the following academic year, beginning with the fall semester. Some scholarships, usually related to study abroad/away, always accept applications. See the Foundation scholarship process information page for details on how to apply.
