The University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Kruk Gallery to feature the work of Robb Quisling and Jonathan Thunder. Opening October 17, the two artists bring their own experiences with alcohol addiction and recovery to bear on the visual imagery of their work; exploring the substance as both a seductive chemical as well as a force of entrapment. This exhibit is free and open to the community.
Quisling is a printmaker and installation artist who lives and works in Duluth. He has exhibited in Chicago and locally at the Duluth Art Institute. His work centers on themes of connection and human interactions. He is also an art teacher at Hermantown High School.
Thunder attended the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and studied Visual Effects and Motion Graphics in Minneapolis at the Art Institute International. His work has been featured in state, regional and national exhibitions, as well as in local and international publications. Thunder is the recipient of a 2020 Pollock – Krasner Foundation Award for painting.
“Loaded,” will be on display in the Kruk Gallery until December 12.
An opening reception will take place Thursday, October 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Kruk Gallery. It is free to attend and open to the community.
The Kruk Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 2 to 6 p.m. The gallery is in the Holden Fine Arts building at 1805 Catlin Ave. in Superior.
