Fostering an Inclusive Campus Community
Welcome to the Office of Multicultural Initiatives
The Office of Multicultural Initiatives (OMA) fosters an inclusive and equitable campus community where all students feel supported, celebrated, and empowered. Housed under the Department of Student Support and Engagement, OMA provides programs, initiatives, and spaces that affirm diverse identities and foster meaningful cross-cultural connections.
Our goal is to create welcoming spaces and opportunities that encourage learning, dialogue, and connection across the UW–Superior community, with programming and services open to all students, faculty and staff.

Our Spaces
William “Pope” Wright Student Center
The William “Pope” Wright Student Center is a welcoming and dynamic space overseen by OMA. It serves as a hub for cultural expression, collaboration, and connection among students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds.
Named in honor of William “Pope” Wright, the first African-American professor at UW–Superior, the center honors his 44 years of service and dedication to student success and inclusion.

The space is open to all members of the campus community.

Visitors are asked to maintain a respectful and peaceful environment
Programs and Services
OMA offers a variety of programs that promote student success, cultural awareness, leadership development and intercultural learning. All programming follows an all-comers approach – celebrating cultures and perspectives while welcoming the entire campus community.
Programming for International Students
OMA hosts programs supporting the cultural engagement, community building, and leadership development of international students — including cultural connection to the region and community building opportunities.
Immigration advising and compliance-related services are managed by the International Student Services (ISS) office, not OMA. OMA collaborates with ISS while focusing on intercultural programming, and these are not related to immigration compliance.
Get Involved
Student opportunities that encourage exploration and personal development play an integral role on campus by providing students with the opportunity to learn and grow through meaningful interactions with one another.
