Search. Connect. Apply. Get Hired!
From searching for jobs and internships to making an appointment with a career consultant, Handshake is your go-to tool for all things career at UW-Superior. Be sure to review Handshake’s terms and conditions.
Setting Up Your Handshake Profile
Create your Handshake profile to share your education, experience, projects, skills, interests and more along with a space to include a professional photo of yourself.
Upload Your Resume
Along with profile information, upload professional documents (such as resumes, CVs, and writing samples) to your Handshake account. If you upload documents, remember to include a clear and professional filename for each one.
We recommend uploading a general resume to your Handshake profile, if you feel ready and comfortable doing so. Here are some tips for creating your resume. Saving your resume and cover letter in your profile will speed up applying for jobs. Here’s how:
- Upload your documents: Click on your account initials at the top right-hand corner of your profile. Click on My Documents then Add New Document to upload.
- Buzz Tip: keep these up-to-date in Handshake as you continue to build your resume!
Profile Privacy
Handshake allows you to control the privacy of your profile, giving you the power of determining who can and cannot see your information. By default, none of your Handshake profile information is viewable to employers, students or alumni.
When you are ready to show employers what you have to offer, we recommend that you set your profile to ‘Community’ to be viewable to employers, students, and alumni, if you are comfortable with this. This increases the chances that you will be found by others for jobs, internships, and career connections. Check out Handshake’s profile privacy settings for more information.
Visit Handshake Often
We recommend that you log in to Handshake daily. Your Handshake browsing experience should automatically refresh with recommended opportunities just for you.
Keep Your Info Up-To-Date
Once your Handshake profile and career interests are up-to-date, here are some next steps:
- Check your inbox regularly. Be sure to log into your uwsuper email account regularly for career info, event and invitation emails related to your Handshake career interests.
- Keep your career interests updated. As your career interests and experiences continue to evolve, update your selections so you can keep Handshake working tailored just for you. The more up-to-date you keep your profile, the more Handshake helps by providing you with information about internships, programs and jobs that are targeted specifically to your interests.
