The University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Lake Superior Research Institute will host the second event in its speaker series, After the Flush: Exploring Careers in Water Resource Recovery, on Thursday, May 7, from 5:15 to 7:45 p.m. The event will begin at Thirsty Pagan Brewing and conclude with a tour of Superior’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. Registration for this free community event is required for the dinner and presentations at Thirsty Pagan Brewing.

The event will feature staff from the City of Superior’s Environmental Services Division and from Resource Renew, who will share information about career opportunities in water resource recovery and treatment.

The evening will begin at Thirsty Pagan Brewing with dinner and presentations by Megan Hogfeldt, water resources specialist with the City of Superior; Erik Johnson and Ryan Ihrke, sustainability specialists with Resource Renew; and current staff from both facilities.

Participants will then travel to Superior’s Wastewater Treatment Plant for a guided tour and an opportunity to network with professionals about career paths in the field.

The event is sponsored by the Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin, UW-Superior’s Lake Superior Research Institute, the City of Superior’s Environmental Services Division, Resource Renew, and Café Scientifique Twin Ports. Funding for this program is provided by the Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin.
