Direct Admit Wisconsin offers automatic admission to qualified students at participating high schools

High school seniors now have an additional way to apply to the University of Wisconsin-Superior and several other Universities of Wisconsin under the new Direct Admit Wisconsin program.

Under Direct Admit Wisconsin, qualified high school students from participating schools are automatically admitted to up to 10 UWs without ever having to submit an application.

Students must choose to participate in the Direct Admit Wisconsin program and are admitted based upon their grades and coursework after completion of their junior year. They must meet all admissions requirements and stay on track to graduate high school.

“We’re excited to offer this new option for students and their families,” said Ben Mooney, UW-Superior director of admissions. “This signifies UW-Superior’s commitment to students in our immediate region and across the state and makes it even easier for them to be admitted to UW-Superior and other UWs.”

Wisconsin seniors who have met Direct Admit Wisconsin requirements will be notified of their Direct Admit offers in the next weeks and continuing into September. Participating students should check their high school email accounts for these notices and to follow the instructions for next steps on becoming a Universities of Wisconsin student. In addition to the notifications via high school email accounts, students will also receive Direct Admit offer letters through the U.S. mail in the coming weeks.

Students will need to complete a Direct Admit form to connect with UWs they are interested in and accept their admission offers. There is no fee to complete the Direct Admit form.

Currently there are five area high schools participating in the program – Ashland, Shell Lake, Solon Springs Webster and Winter. Yet students from any participating public or private high school in Wisconsin are eligible for the new Direct Admit Wisconsin program.

“UW-Superior now offers three convenient ways for students to apply,” said Mooney. “There is the traditional application process which can be completed online or by mail; the Wisconsin Guarantee, which guarantees admission to Wisconsin high school students who are in the top 10% of their class at the end of 11th grade and homeschooled students who receive an ACT score in the national 90th percentile or higher; and now the new Direct Admit Wisconsin program.”

“If students interested in UW-Superior are not from a Direct Admit Wisconsin participating school, there’s no problem. They just need to submit their application the traditional way via uwsuper.edu/apply,” said Mooney. ” We are excited about the continued growth and innovation happening at UW-Superior and encourage all students interested in being part of our campus community to apply.”

UW-Superior is a nationally recognized public liberal arts institution of more than 2,700 students. The university has more than 60 undergraduate majors and concentrations, select online and graduate programs, competitive Division III athletics programs, continuing education, research and scholarship programs that support the community and region.

The university also has several exciting new projects underway, such as the Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium and the Sadie Ann Floating Classroom and Research Vessel that will further enrich students’ experience at UW-Superior.
