Notice: The online placement testing website will be unavailable from January 31, 2025 to March 15, 2025. No online exams can be taken during this time. Students who registered but did not complete their exam by January 31 will need to re-register after March 15. In-person exams will remain available—contact placement@uwsuper.edu to schedule.
Placement Exam Requirements
The purpose of placement testing is to ensure students are taking the course that matches their skill level and provide them with the support they need to be successful. Results of the exams do not impact admissions status or standing within the university.
UW-Superior policy dictates the following:
- Math Placement Test: Required for all students.
- English Placement Test: Required for all students.
- World Language Tests (French, German, or Spanish): Required for all students who have taken a world language class in high school before registering for the respective language class at UW-Superior.
Please note: If you have ECCP/PSEO credit, Advanced Placement credit, or transfer credit that you believe might satisfy the English, mathematics, or foreign language requirement, please contact us to determine whether your credits will exempt you from any testing requirements.
You have the option of taking the online, unproctored exam for free, or you can choose to take a proctored version of the exam in person or online. The online proctored exam comes with a $40 upfront fee. Proctored exams are not required by UW-Superior.
Unproctored exam scores will be transferrable to all UW-System schools with the exception of UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee.
Results of Placement tests: Students should go into their Student Center on their E-Hive account and go to their Unofficial Transcript. Placement information is located at the bottom of that report.
Scores can take up to two weeks to be processed.
