LiveWell Nature Exploration: Herbal Plant ID & Medicine Making

Time: 6 – 8 p.m.
Location: Lake Superior Estuarium – Confluence Room, 3 Marina Dr, Superior, WI
This is the third class focused on herbal plan ID and medicine making. On Barker’s Island we will meet a new herbal helper and make an herbal tincture best done in fall from new growth branches. We will go for a walk and learn where and when to spot it, and characteristics that help identify it. After foraging, we’ll learn the plant’s herbal actions, what ailments to use it for, responsible harvesting and making some medicine with the plant.
You will all take home some medicine we started on Sept 21st. Attendance at the previous classes isn’t necessary, however, for attending this one.
No experience is necessary and walk will be along a flat surface. If you are unable to do the walk, samples will be available in the classroom as well.
RSVP is needed. Class is limited to 25 participants. Please RSVP here.
If you RSVP’d but can’t attend, please let us know so we can have someone else be able to attend. Email us at [email protected].
Our teacher Lara Fahnlander is a certificated herbalist, studying under Master Herbalist Lise Wolff, Chanchal Cabrera, Jim McDonald, Rosemary Gladstar and more.
This activity is organized by LiveWell, an initiative of the Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being.
