Program Overview
This microcredential consists of coursework (4 courses, 12 credits) aligned with the categories and objectives of the Praxis English Language Arts Content Knowledge exam. As such it may help prepare current students or practicing teachers to attain additional teaching licensure by exam (Praxis).

This microcredential could provide students with better overall teaching preparation in English Language Arts. Students may want additional licensure to market themselves better and the microcredential may support them in passing the exam to attain additional licensure. This microcredential could help facilitate employment in the region of existing UW- Superior students as it could offer a competitive advantage in their application. Schools often look within their own teaching ranks to see if additional needs (such as teaching English) can be addressed internally. Students are not required to take courses in more than one category. This microcredential is not in and of itself a licensure program but is a preparatory aid for taking the Praxis II English Language Arts Content Knowledge exam (which, if passed with an appropriate score, would then allow the student to pursue a Wisconsin English teaching license). This microcredential aligns with the English Language Arts Content Knowledge Praxis Exam, including reading (including the study of different literatures and genres), language use and vocabulary (including conventions and vocabulary development), and writing, speaking, and listening.
