Program Overview
The physical education program seeks to serve all students in a caring educational environment, fostering intellectual growth concerning wellness for life and developing critical thinking skills, positive attitudes and personal responsibility toward leading productive and healthy lifestyles.
In this major, you will choose from three concentrations: physical education (grades K-12) teaching licensure, exercise science and health promotion and wellness.

Through hands-on learning experiences, small class sizes and opportunities in educational settings, you’ll prepare to promote wellness and physical activity in schools, communities and other professional environments. You can customize your degree through concentrations in Physical Education K–12 Teaching Licensure, Exercise Science or Health Promotion and Wellness.
K-12 Teaching Licensure
UW-Superior’s Physical Education (Grades K-12) licensure program prepares students for teaching physical education at a variety of grade and ability levels, following the teacher certification policies and guidelines established by the UW-Superior Teacher Education Department. The program prepares students for licensure in the state of Wisconsin, which is also accepted by many other states. Many Physical Education students enhance their employment options by completing minors or certificates in Coaching, Health Education or Adaptive Education.
Certification for licensure requires completion of the teacher certification coursework and student teaching.
