The University of Wisconsin‑Superior, in partnership with the Superior School District Indian Education Committee, will host the Geteoodenaang Ziigwan “Old Town Spring” Powwow on Saturday, May 2, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Superior Middle School.
The grand entry will begin at 1 p.m. Head dancers for the event are Giizh Agaton‑Howes and Ami Agaton‑Howes, with Ricky White serving as emcee.
A youth and adult hand drum contest will take place from 3 to 5 p.m., and food vendors will be available throughout the event. Vendors can contact Jen Willoughby at [email protected] or Cali Quaderer at [email protected].
The powwow is free and open to the public. This is an alcohol‑ and drug‑free event. Children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Dancers may register by contacting Jen Willoughby at [email protected]. For more information, contact [email protected].
