The University of Wisconsin-Superior invites students, faculty, staff and community members to an open house celebrating a new home for the Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being and Student Health and Counseling Services.

The open house will take place from 3 to 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 12, in Swenson Hall rooms 1056 and 1058. Guests are welcome to stop by throughout the afternoon to tour the newly renovated space, enjoy refreshments and meet faculty and staff from both departments.

Although the two departments have operated under one organizational umbrella since the Pruitt Center was founded in 2018, they have not previously been housed in the same physical location. The new space brings them together to strengthen mental health and well-being support on campus.

Student Health and Counseling Services provides counseling, psychiatric referrals and psychoeducation for students, while the Pruitt Center offers classes, trainings, workshops and resources that support positive mental health for students, UW-Superior employees and the greater community.

“By bringing these services together in one location, we’re creating a more connected and accessible experience for students seeking support,” said Director of Health, Counseling and Well-Being Randy Barker. “This space reflects the university’s commitment to supporting student mental health and enhancing well-being on campus and in our community.”

UW-Superior students, employees and members of the public are encouraged to attend the open house to learn more about the services offered by both departments and explore the new space.
