Superior Adventures, part of the University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Campus Recreation Department, is offering a new four-week climbing program for youth ages 10 to 15 designed to build skills and knowledge.
“Our camps are for both new and experienced climbers,” said Sean Monnier, recreation program manager at UW-Superior. “I am leading the camps with five other counselors. Enrollment is capped at 12 participants to allow for as much one-on-one instruction as possible.”
Camps will be held daily from 12:30 to 4 p.m., giving participants the opportunity to spend afternoons learning and practicing climbing at UW-Superior’s National Bank of Commerce Climbing Wall.
“These camps are designed to introduce new climbers to the sport by providing all necessary equipment and instruction, while also helping experienced climbers improve their skills on our wall,” Monnier said. “Campers will work on specific routes and continue practicing until they can complete climbs efficiently at their targeted difficulty level.”
Camps include:
- Rocking the Basics — June 15-19
- Wall Crawlers: Spider Senses — June 22-26
- Mountain Goat Mode — July 6-10
- King of the Crag — July 13-17
Registration is available online.
